Job description
The Service Engineer II role at Microsoft Advertising focuses on building automation and full-stack tools to enhance the reliability and customer experience of the advertising platform. Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Data Science, Cybersecurity, or related field AND 2+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, systems engineering, or industrial controls.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
- Solid coding skills in at least one general-purpose language (C#, Java, Python, or TypeScript/JavaScript).
- Experience building automation and/or services that integrate with APIs, databases, and distributed systems.
- Hands-on debugging skills and comfort working in a live-site/production environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform deep technical investigations to solve complex reliability, performance, and data-quality issues across the Microsoft Advertising platform.
- Design, build, and own AI-driven automation on an intelligent platform to modernize support workflows.
- Write production-quality code and contribute to shared libraries and tooling via standard code review and CI/CD practices.
- Drive root-cause analysis and post-incident follow-through in partnership with multiple Engineering teams.
- Create and maintain automated test coverage for key workflows and participate in bug bashes and release readiness activities.
