Qualcomm is seeking a skilled engineer to develop a high-performance RISC-V Instruction Set Simulator (ISS) that will serve as a reference model for next-generation processors. This role involves working at the intersection of computer architecture, systems software, and verification engineering. The engineer will be responsible for implementing the ISA and ensuring the simulator's correctness while contributing to co-simulation efforts and developer tooling. Attention to detail and a strong understanding of processor architecture are crucial for success in this position.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of relevant work experience, or a Master's degree with 3+ years, or a PhD with 2+ years.
• Solid C++ skills and comfort reading unfamiliar codebases.
• Basic understanding of processor architecture, including pipelines, memory, privilege levels, and interrupts.
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on correctness.

• Implement the ISA by translating RISC-V specification chapters into working C++ code.
• Maintain the fetch/decode/execute engine, memory protection, virtual memory, and privilege-level logic for simulation correctness.
• Work on the harness that runs the ISS alongside RTL and flags any differences.
• Write targeted unit tests to exercise individual features and compare against expected results.
• Contribute to and maintain a collection of simulator extensions and utilities.
