Job description
GEICO is seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer to join the Testing Tools and Frameworks team. This role focuses on building and maintaining testing frameworks, libraries, and tools to enhance testing capabilities for engineers. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with test frameworks and a strong technical background in software testing. The position emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and mentoring junior engineers.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in software testing and performance/load testing.
- Deep familiarity with test framework internals or advanced topics in Pytest, Playwright, and TestNG.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Go, Node, Java, or Python.
- Strong proficiency in Linux system administration and shell scripting.
- Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
- Bachelor's degree or master's degree in information technology or related field, or equivalent experience.
Responsibilities
- Partner with business and engineering to understand testing complexity and translate needs into appropriate testing capabilities.
- Develop extensions, plugins, fixtures, and other layers to improve test framework capabilities.
- Prototype new test vectors, approaches, tools, or methods.
- Build new libraries to bridge gaps between teams and their services.
- Create tools such as Excel Addons, data sanitation services, and CLIs to solve specific challenges.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
