Job description

NVIDIA is seeking a Senior Compiler Engineer to join their team focused on advancing GPU systems programming. The role involves redefining high-performance GPU software development by integrating Rust's safety and modern tooling into native GPU and CUDA development. The engineer will work on building compiler pipelines, custom intermediate representation frameworks, and JIT compilation systems. This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact in the field of accelerated computing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant work or research experience in compiler development, language design, or GPU code generation.
  • Deep expertise in the Rust programming language and a strong grasp of compiler internals.
  • Hands-on experience with compiler infrastructures, intermediate representations, and code generation.
  • Solid understanding of parallel programming models, GPU architectures, and CUDA programming.
  • Strong software design skills, including debugging, profiling, and benchmarking compilers and GPU kernels.
  • Ability to work independently and drive complex compiler-engineering efforts from research to production.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Rust-to-GPU compiler pipelines and maintain custom compiler backends.
  • Build compiler IRs and optimizers to lower Rust AST and MIR into GPU-specific IRs.
  • Support complex ahead-of-time, just-in-time, and link time optimization workflows.
  • Define safe parallel abstractions to enforce memory safety during GPU execution.
  • Expose next-gen hardware features by implementing ergonomic device-side abstractions in Rust.
  • Build composable building blocks for future accelerated computing applications.

Benefits

  • Employees at NVIDIA are often offered comprehensive, day-one benefits—including medical, dental, and vision coverage with HSA support, life and disability insurance, an Employee Assistance Program, and a 401(k) with auto-enrollment. Many roles also have generous time off and holidays, donation matching (up to $10,000), and a wide menu of extras like FSAs, commuter benefits, legal and identity-theft protection, pet insurance, and wellness discounts. Optional programs can include student-loan and home-purchase support, plus family care resources and expert medical services.
