Job description

The Senior Hardware Architect role focuses on defining and delivering Reliability, Availability, and Serviceability (RAS) hardware architecture for Tegra System-on-Chips (SoCs). This position is integral to developing resilient computing platforms for various high-reliability applications, including datacenters and autonomous vehicles. The architect will collaborate with teams across design, verification, validation, and firmware to enhance system resiliency and observability. The role also emphasizes understanding radiation effects and implementing RAS principles in high-reliability environments.

Requirements

  • MS or PhD degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 8+ years of SoC architecture, design, verification, reliability, silicon validation, or related hardware development experience.
  • Strong understanding of Reliability, Availability, and Serviceability (RAS) in the SoC context.
  • Experience defining and driving hardware architecture features through the full development lifecycle.
  • Strong understanding of overall SoC architecture and the ability to reason across various components.
  • Hands-on experience with design verification, silicon validation, and fault injection.
  • Familiarity with radiation effects and high-reliability deployment environments.
  • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive SoC-level RAS hardware architecture across various components.
  • Own RAS features from concept through architecture specification and production readiness.
  • Develop architectural requirements for fault detection, correction, and serviceability.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure RAS features are implementable and verifiable.
  • Understand how RAS mechanisms interact with overall SoC architecture.
  • Create hardware specifications, architectural requirements, and test plans.
  • Plan and review verification and validation strategies for RAS mechanisms.
  • Assist in failure analysis and silicon debug for various findings.
  • Apply RAS architecture principles to high-reliability deployment environments.
  • Follow industry standards and best practices related to RAS and semiconductor reliability.

Benefits

  • Employees at NVIDIA are often offered comprehensive, day-one benefits—including medical, dental, and vision coverage with HSA support, life and disability insurance, an Employee Assistance Program, and a 401(k) with auto-enrollment. Many roles also have generous time off and holidays, donation matching (up to $10,000), and a wide menu of extras like FSAs, commuter benefits, legal and identity-theft protection, pet insurance, and wellness discounts. Optional programs can include student-loan and home-purchase support, plus family care resources and expert medical services.
