Job description
Amazon GuardDuty is looking for talented Software Development Engineers to join their Los Angeles team. This role focuses on designing, building, and operating highly available distributed systems that enhance GuardDuty's Malware protection and Runtime Monitoring products. Engineers will work on complex challenges at the intersection of cloud security and distributed systems, contributing directly to the security of AWS customers. The position involves collaboration with security engineers and product managers to deliver impactful features.
Requirements
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
- 1+ years of experience in software development engineering or related fields
- 1+ years of experience designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, or distributed software applications
- 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain highly available, scalable distributed systems for GuardDuty's services
- Build and operate metadata services that enrich data for internal teams
- Own and evolve the runtime agent provisioning and coverage platform across AWS compute services
- Own features end-to-end across the full software development lifecycle
- Leverage AI-assisted development tooling to accelerate workflows while maintaining quality
- Write high-quality, testable code and participate in design and code reviews
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues, driving root cause analysis
- Collaborate with security engineers, applied scientists, and product managers to define technical solutions
- Mentor junior engineers on engineering best practices and AI tooling usage
- Contribute to operational excellence through on-call rotations and system monitoring
