Job description
The Solutions Architect role at Apple involves owning system design for customer-facing, partner-facing, and agent-facing platforms within the AppleCare Sales, Service & Support space. The team is responsible for building and operating critical platforms that enhance the customer support experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and excellent communication skills, enabling them to translate business requirements into effective system designs. This position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to address complex problems and deliver innovative solutions.
Requirements
- 10+ years in software engineering with a focus on system design, technical architecture, or solution architecture.
- Experience designing and documenting engineering specifications for inter- and intra-system interactions.
- Experience architecting distributed systems for high availability, fault tolerance, and horizontal scalability.
- Proven ability to translate business requirements into system designs and technical solutions.
- Familiarity with modern backend stacks and data store technologies such as Java/Python and NoSQL.
- Knowledge of software development methodologies, including Agile and traditional waterfall.
- BS/MS in Computer Science or other technical field, or equivalent experience.
- 12+ years in software engineering with a focus on large-scale enterprise solutions.
- 4+ years in a hands-on development or technical architect role.
- Experience developing domain expertise in a complex business area.
Responsibilities
- Own system design across highly distributed customer-facing, partner-facing, and agent-facing platforms.
- Immerse yourself in the AppleCare sales, service, and support landscape to become a subject matter expert.
- Convert ambiguous business problems into concrete technical architecture.
- Work closely with cross-functional business stakeholders and engineering teams.
- Leverage performance monitoring and observability data to identify design and optimization opportunities.
- Manage multiple global efforts simultaneously while maintaining excellent organizational skills.
