The position requires collaboration with various teams, including Technology, Power, and Silicon, to analyze performance data and improve projections based on silicon data. The focus is on ensuring the accuracy of power modeling and frequency-voltage curves while driving design decisions for the Apple GPU. The role emphasizes the use of statistical analysis and Python programming to enhance the tool's capabilities.
Requirements
- Master's Degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or related field.
- Experience in utilizing computer architecture to scale performance for various GPU/Memory configurations.
- Experience in Power Analysis and frequency sweeps using PTPX for PPA Analysis.
- Proficiency in Python programming and GIT for tool development and maintenance.
- Knowledge of Statistics and Mathematical functions for data analysis.
- Education in VLSI Design and Circuits for power modeling analysis.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain an internally developed tool that generates GPU efficiency data.
- Collaborate with Technology, Power, and Static timing teams to determine Frequency-Voltage curves.
- Work with the Silicon team to improve projections based on Silicon data.
- Analyze performance data from the GPU performance team and report abnormalities.
- Ensure capacitance and leakage data from the GPU power team meets project expectations.
- Run experiments with architects and implementation teams to drive design decisions.
- Make feature additions to the tool, including updating equations and silicon technology parameters.
- Analyze projections against actual silicon data for accuracy and improvements.
Benefits
- Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage.
