The NPI Engineer role focuses on embedded firmware and software within the Emerging Accelerator Software team at Google. This team is dedicated to empowering Google's accelerator roadmap by engineering foundational hardware and low-level software. The position involves solving complex challenges related to software and hardware interaction, contributing to the development of new features, and providing technical leadership. The role is critical for onboarding new domain-specific accelerators into Google data centers.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

• On-board emerging co-accelerators into Google's ML accelerator families to enable new use cases with improved performance and efficiency.
• Collaborate with internal teams to design and implement new features in system software, including firmware or daemons running on BMC/hosts and kernel drivers.
• Design and develop tests, tools, telemetry, and dashboards to generate insights to monitor and debug potential issues.
• Analyze, debug, and resolve complex system-level challenges related to host and management software stacks.
• Provide technical leadership to help formulate and drive software development plans and identify dependencies in cross-functional teams.
