Job description
The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer for Electro-Optic Components at Google will oversee the quality, reliability, and qualification of critical custom and off-the-shelf electro-optic components. This role is essential for the development of next-generation module technology and wearable devices. The engineer will work closely with design teams, the Global Supply Chain, and suppliers to ensure rigorous quality management and control strategies. The position requires a blend of technical expertise and the ability to manage supplier relationships effectively.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, physics, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience in supplier quality engineering, quality management, or advanced manufacturing focused on electronic and optoelectronic components.
- Experience managing contract manufacturers/original device manufacturers, conducting on-site factory audits, and implementing quality control plans.
- Experience driving 8D root cause analysis and corrective actions with component vendors.
- Ability to travel to international supplier sites when needed.
Responsibilities
- Lead supplier quality assessment, audit, evaluation, selection, and qualification for critical opto-mechanical and electronic components.
- Define, establish, and enforce rigorous incoming/outgoing quality control requirements and product specifications with suppliers.
- Drive supplier non-conformance management and corrective actions for component-level manufacturing and reliability failures.
- Review and approve supplier product change notifications and assess cross-functional quality risks.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to conduct component-level design failure mode and effects analysis and supplier process capability evaluations.
