Job description
The Software Engineering Manager II for Infrastructure at Google Cloud Compute is responsible for leading a team of engineers to optimize code and manage project goals. This role involves providing technical leadership and overseeing the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites. The team focuses on redefining capabilities in AI and infrastructure, delivering computing power to global services, and empowering developers. The manager will align team priorities with broader organizational goals and guide the development of innovative solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages such as Python, C, C++, Java, or JavaScript.
- 3 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure or distributed systems.
- 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
- 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.
Responsibilities
- Set and communicate team priorities that support the broader organization's goals.
- Develop the mid-term technical goal and roadmap within the scope of multiple teams.
- Design, guide, and vet systems designs within the scope of the broader area.
- Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices.
- Meet regularly with individuals to discuss performance and development and provide feedback and coaching.
