Job description
The Microsoft Azure Artificial Intelligence/High Performance Computing (AI/HPC) team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to enhance customer experiences in deploying and managing applications on hyperscale cloud infrastructure. This role focuses on developing tools for operational excellence and reliability in supercomputing environments. The engineer will drive architectural changes and influence the roadmap for software and hardware components. The position aims to facilitate growth and innovation in AI and HPC within the cloud sector.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience.
- 2+ years building end to end observability solutions for complex cloud infrastructure.
- 2+ years of specialized experience with AI/HPC system management, High-Speed Networks, HPC Storage, or managing Cloud Infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Develop and operate high-throughput, low-latency data processing pipelines that transform infrastructure telemetry into actionable intelligence at cloud scale.
- Drive the evolution of observability by discovering new failure modes, operational patterns, and leading indicators.
- Own end-to-end delivery of services and platform components, from architecture and design through implementation and operational excellence.
- Partner with engineering, operations, and platform teams to identify key signals, metrics, and insights for reliability and performance.
- Act as a technical leader and Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) for critical services, driving incident response and reliability improvements.
- Champion engineering excellence through AI-assisted development, code reviews, and mentoring.
- Stay at the forefront of emerging trends in distributed systems, observability, AI infrastructure, and cloud operations.
