The Software Development Engineer I role on the Cosmos team at Amazon focuses on building and scaling real-time data infrastructure for robotics. This position involves working with systems that process millions of events daily from robotic workcells, contributing to operational insights and business decisions. Requirements
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
- 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
- 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications
- 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience
- Experience building or operating real-time data pipelines using Apache Flink, Amazon Kinesis, or similar frameworks
- Experience designing or maintaining data solutions using relational databases or data lake architectures
- Experience deploying and operating containerized services on Amazon ECS or similar platforms
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain components of the Cosmos data pipeline
- Write clean, well-tested production code to support real-time and batch data processing
- Collaborate with robotics engineering teams to onboard new event types and data models
- Participate in operational excellence activities including monitoring and on-call support
- Contribute to code reviews, design discussions, and sprint planning within an agile team
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in distributed systems
