Job description
The Software Development Engineer will join the AWS Vulnerability Management organization, focusing on mitigating security risks across AWS. The team is responsible for host operating system vulnerability management and aims to automate remediation processes. The successful candidate will work on building systems that analyze vulnerabilities and partner with AWS service teams to enhance security. This role involves prototyping solutions and taking them to production while ensuring operational excellence.
Requirements
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards and testing
- Experience designing and owning a system consumed by other teams
- Experience operating what you build in production, including on-call responsibilities
- Experience building production data-intensive systems with distributed processing frameworks
- Experience with data lakes or warehouse services and strong SQL skills
- Experience taking a prototype to a production service
- Interest in or exposure to security engineering or vulnerability management
Responsibilities
- Build systems that determine why vulnerabilities persist across the AWS host fleet and drive them to remediation automatically.
- Build detection mechanisms that identify where patching automation is not reaching hosts.
- Prototype solutions against fleet-scale security data and take successful prototypes to production.
- Partner with AWS service teams to reduce the attack surface across the fleet.
- Operate the systems in production, including managing on-call and operational metrics.
