Job description
The Software Localization team is seeking a motivated Applied ML Engineer to enhance the localization experience for Apple's international customers. This role focuses on leveraging large language models and machine learning to improve translation tasks and localization features across Apple products. The ideal candidate will lead cross-functional efforts and collaborate with various teams to develop innovative ML solutions. A strong background in Natural Language Processing and machine translation is essential for success in this position.
Requirements
- MS in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or Machine Learning, or equivalent experience
- Experience in software localization or internationalization
- Familiarity with localization standards and technologies such as Unicode, XLIFF, and ICU
- Native-level foreign language skills in reading, writing, and speaking
- Experience in scripting languages like bash, Ruby, or Perl
- Knowledge of computational linguistics
- Published research in the field of machine learning or AI
- Experience using Xcode to build software for Apple's platforms
- Proficiency with Objective-C and Swift programming languages
- Proficiency with Apple's development APIs such as SwiftUI and Foundation
- Strong programming skills in Python, C, or C++
Responsibilities
- Lead the exploration and application of large language models for translation tasks
- Translate the latest research into high-quality systems and models for machine translation
- Engage in all aspects of model development, from ideation to deployment
- Collaborate with translation, localization quality, project management, and engineering teams to implement machine learning solutions
- Develop and maintain features, frameworks, and tools to facilitate the software translation process
