The Data Center Chief Engineer (CE) plays a vital role in maintaining the efficiency of Amazon Web Services' physical infrastructure. This position involves overseeing the operations and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center. The CE will manage projects from conception to completion while collaborating with various teams to drive innovation and reduce operational costs. This role requires a strong focus on safety, security, and adherence to procedures.

• 4+ years of data center engineering experience
• Experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings
• 3+ years of administrative experience including Microsoft Office products experience
• Experience leading technical teams through daily operations and maintenance evolutions, or experience in project management
• Associate's degree in related field, or High School CTE in Mechatronics
• Experience in construction or project management
• Lean, Six Sigma, CPHQ, PMP, or related certification
• Experience in a training role, including technical training

• Oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in a data center.
• Act as an escalation point for all facilities-related issues within the data center.
• Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures.
• Troubleshoot and report facility and data server-level events within internal SLA.
• Create and deploy new standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians, Chief Engineers, and vendor support teams.
• Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians.
• Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to by vendor and Amazon staff.
• Utilize internal CMMS to manage building workflows.
• Communicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience.
