This role involves working with a multidisciplinary team to enhance mobility and resiliency in the Northeast Corridor. The Project Engineer will contribute to the design and construction of a new rail tunnel and the rehabilitation of an existing one, impacting over 200,000 daily passengers. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on regional accessibility and sustainable economic growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in NJ or NY preferred.
  • 5–10 years of experience in civil, water resources, or environmental engineering, preferably on large infrastructure or transportation projects.
  • Strong understanding of watershed hydrology, open-channel flow, pipe network analysis, and floodplain management.
  • Proficiency in HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, ArcGIS, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and related engineering software.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations relevant to major capital projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with design reviews, resolve technical issues, and coordinate design change documentation.
  • Provide technical support during construction, review contractor submittals, and monitor progress against milestones.
  • Facilitate communication among stakeholders, schedule meetings, and assist with project documentation.
  • Support the integration and coordination of all HTP Packages, ensuring comprehensive interface management.
  • Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly project reports, including safety, quality, environmental, and milestone status updates.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including NJDEP and NEPA.

Benefits

  • Employees at Arcadis are often offered a supportive, inclusive culture with internal mobility, extensive learning and development resources, and the flexibility to choose benefits that fit their needs (varying by country). Many roles also emphasize purpose and community—through sustainability initiatives, charitable programs like Shelter, and regular social and volunteer events—so people can grow their careers while making a positive impact.
