As a Senior Software Engineer II on the Fleet Management Unified Deployment team at IBM, you will be instrumental in developing systems that manage the lifecycle of Confluent software across Confluent Cloud. This role involves working on critical systems that orchestrate deployment, upgrades, and operational management across various cloud environments. You will collaborate with diverse technologies and teams to enhance the control plane and ensure safe, scalable service operations. • 6+ years of experience delivering scalable software solutions.
• Deep expertise in Kubernetes, including controller development and operator patterns.
• Strong proficiency in Go, with experience building production-grade backend or platform services.
• Experience with fleet-wide lifecycle management and deployment orchestration.
• Experience running production services in cloud environments with knowledge of reliability and security fundamentals.

• Build and evolve the control plane that manages software rollout and lifecycle operations.
• Develop systems that coordinate placement, maintenance, and recovery workflows for services.
• Design and enhance APIs for deployment workflows and service lifecycle management.
• Build and optimize integrations with the broader Confluent Cloud platform.
• Implement and strengthen security controls across deployment and runtime management systems.
• Drive operational excellence through monitoring and automated health checks.
