KLA is seeking a Systems Engineering Manager to lead a team of hardware systems engineers focused on developing electron beam based metrology instruments in Ann Arbor. This role involves collaborating with internal teams and external partners to drive complex instrument designs and enhance KLA's metrology tools. The manager will apply systems engineering principles to optimize instrument performance and lead efforts in testing and validation. This position requires strong leadership and problem-solving skills to address sophisticated system performance challenges.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline; M.S. preferred.
• 10+ years of experience developing complex hardware or capital equipment.
• People management experience leading engineers through concept-to-release development.
• Solid understanding of precision instruments and control systems.
• Experience with high vacuum systems and electron beam based instruments.
• Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Ability to travel up to 15% for training and customer support.

• Develop detailed requirement specifications using systems engineering methodology.
• Implement innovative design improvements for current and next generation products.
• Optimize critical systems-level instrument performance using systems engineering principles.
• Lead the team in developing and testing systems design improvements and solutions.
• Create training materials for team skill advancement.
• Address field customer concerns regarding system performance problems.
• Write high-level technical reports to communicate issues and engineering recommendations.
• Design and conduct multi-disciplinary experiments and write detailed test plans.
• Interface with service, manufacturing, and marketing teams to resolve performance issues.
• Coordinate with outside vendors to develop and deliver sub-system products.
