The role is for a Software Development Engineer (SDE) on the Workload Optimization team within AWS Elastic Container Service (ECS) in Seattle. The team's mission is to significantly reduce the time it takes for containerized workloads to become ready to run on AWS Fargate. This position involves deep systems work at the intersection of container runtimes, operating systems, and networking, with a focus on optimizing the launch path for containerized applications. The team is new and offers the opportunity to shape technical direction from the ground up.

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
• 1+ years of experience designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language
• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience

• Build and optimize container startup and runtime systems using Linux kernel, containerd/runc, and Bottlerocket
• Design and implement solutions across the container networking and instance preparation stack
