The Amazon GuardDuty team is seeking a highly skilled senior software engineer to enhance the threat detection service that protects applications on AWS. This role involves collaborating with applied scientists and security researchers to develop advanced analytics and machine learning systems, particularly in the emerging field of AI Threat Detection. • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, or distributed software applications
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language
• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience
• 1+ years of big data technologies experience such as AWS, Hadoop, or Spark
• Experience with security and systems that handle sensitive data
• Experience in ML and MLOps in production
• Experience in AI threat detection

• Design, build, and operate large-scale, distributed security detection systems.
• Extend GuardDuty’s capabilities into the AI Threat Detection domain.
• Collaborate with applied scientists and security researchers to transform research outcomes into scalable systems.
• Drive the full software development lifecycle including planning, design, implementation, and testing.
• Conduct design and code reviews, providing feedback on architecture and performance.
• Operate in a highly available, customer-facing environment with on-call responsibilities.
• Participate in root cause analysis and long-term improvements for operational excellence.
