Job description

The Autonomy Software Systems team at Rivian is focused on developing and delivering advanced autonomy features for electric vehicles. This role involves leading systems engineering and architecture design for automated driving and active safety features. The engineer will work closely with various development teams to ensure the successful integration and testing of these features. The position plays a crucial role in enhancing the safety and experience of Rivian's customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Robotics or a related field.
  • 7+ years of professional experience in systems engineering or software development for autonomous systems with a Bachelor's degree, or 6+ years with a Master's degree.
  • Proven track record of deploying software in production environments.
  • Understanding of the operation and limitations of autonomous driving hardware, including sensors and compute.
  • Working knowledge of automotive standards and regulations related to automated driving and active safety.
  • Moderate programming skills in C/C++ and Python.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver best-in-class autonomy features powered by the Rivian Autonomy Stack.
  • Define operational design domains, functional, performance, and safety requirements for features.
  • Architect solutions to meet functional and performance requirements and define interfaces.
  • Collaborate with autonomy development teams for end-to-end feature development, integration, and testing.
  • Define metrics for feature evaluation and collaborate with various teams to deploy necessary infrastructure.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration to satisfy feature and system requirements.
  • Identify, root cause, and resolve or mitigate feature issues across development and testing teams.
  • Lead process improvements to achieve First-Time-Right design.
  • Coordinate with program teams on feasibility, development status, and risks.
  • Participate in architecture and design reviews, feasibility studies, and impact analysis.
