Job description

Jacobs is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern focused on Structural Design to join their Transportation team in Boise, Idaho for Summer 2027. This role offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in large-scale infrastructure projects while applying academic knowledge to real-world civil engineering challenges. The intern will work alongside experienced engineers and project managers, contributing to innovative solutions for structural clients' challenges. The position emphasizes collaboration and learning about industry-standard procedures and software.

Requirements

  • Have completed, or nearing completion of a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
  • Completed coursework related to structural engineering, bridge design, and transportation engineering.
  • Ideally, have a 3.0 GPA.
  • Be enrolled or intending to enroll in a graduate level Structural Engineering program.
  • Have familiarity with CAD software.
  • Possess excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Have authorization to work in the country of employment without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in field data collection in support of structural improvement projects.
  • Assist in basic bridge geometric design and layout.
  • Support the development of construction plans and technical specifications for structural projects.
  • Help prepare technical reports and design documentation.
  • Participate in observation and record keeping during construction work.
