Job description
The Mechanical Design Engineering Manager will lead a team of skilled Mechanical Design Engineers focused on the architecture, design, development, integration, and release of advanced semiconductor inspection and metrology systems. This role emphasizes driving complex new product development programs while fostering engineering talent and establishing technical strategies. The successful candidate will possess strong technical expertise in precision mechanical systems and demonstrate effective leadership and cross-functional influence. The position is critical for ensuring the delivery of high-quality mechanical and opto-mechanical subsystems that meet performance and cost objectives.
Requirements
- Doctorate degree with 5+ years of related work experience, Master's degree with 8+ years, or Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of experience.
- Experience in semiconductor inspection, metrology, lithography, wafer processing, or advanced manufacturing.
- Proficiency in CAD design tools such as Creo (Pro/E), SolidWorks, or equivalent.
- Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, including design principles and materials.
- Knowledge in opto-mechanical systems, motion controls, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of complex mechanical and opto-mechanical subsystems for semiconductor capital equipment.
- Guide teams through complete product development cycles including requirements definition and detailed design.
- Ensure successful execution of subsystem and system-level design reviews.
- Drive application of Design-for-X principles including manufacturability and reliability.
- Manage engineering resources, schedules, budgets, and technical risks.
- Support executive reviews with status updates and risk mitigation plans.
- Establish clear goals and performance expectations for engineers.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
