Job description

As a Software Development Engineer on the Amazon WorkSpaces team, you will be responsible for developing and managing cloud desktop solutions used by organizations globally. The team focuses on tackling complex distributed systems challenges to enhance the desktop experience while ensuring simplicity and cost-effectiveness for IT administrators. You will work closely with senior technical leaders and contribute to various platform services and system-level components. This role is ideal for those who enjoy solving technical problems and making a real-world impact through their software.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, test, and deploy software features across the full development lifecycle for Amazon WorkSpaces.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers, product managers, and cross-functional partners across AWS to define technical solutions.
  • Identify root causes of operational issues and drive permanent fixes to improve system reliability and performance.
  • Coach other engineers through code reviews and design discussions to raise the technical bar across the team.
  • Evaluate new technologies and approaches, recommending adoption to improve scalability, security, or developer productivity.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
