Job description
The Software Development Engineer III position at Amazon's Supply Chain Optimization Technologies (SCOT) organization focuses on designing, building, and operating highly scalable distributed systems. Requirements
- 7+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
- 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems
- Experience as a mentor or tech lead for an engineering team
- Professional production experience developing software in both Java and Rust
- Experience migrating high-scale services from Java to Rust
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and operate production software in Rust
- Lead architecture and technical design for complex, high-impact projects
- Solve challenging problems involving distributed systems, concurrency, performance, scalability, and reliability
- Drive technical decisions across team and organizational boundaries
- Own systems end-to-end, including production operations and operational excellence
- Mentor engineers and raise the team’s technical bar
