Job description
The Hardware Development Engineer III role at Amazon Prime Air focuses on the design, development, and continuous improvement of Drone End of Line Test systems for the MK30 drone program. This position serves as the technical lead for hardware and acceptance test procedures, ensuring that drones meet rigorous functional verification standards before entering service. The role involves collaboration with various teams, including production and software, to address manufacturing challenges and enhance testing processes. Candidates will work in an innovative environment that emphasizes the application of state-of-the-art technologies to solve real-world delivery challenges.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field
- 5+ years of engineering experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team
- Experience in 3D CAD
- Experience using test instrumentation, data-acquisition systems, and analysis tools
- Experience with project management of technical projects
- Master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred
- Experience communicating complex information to senior stakeholders
- Experience with rapid prototyping techniques
- Track record of delivering stable, performant hardware solutions
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of Drone End of Line Test Systems.
- Drive the development and documentation of Acceptance Test Procedures.
- Integrate hardware and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with production and software teams.
- Respond to manufacturing floor escalations regarding drone test failures.
- Contribute to design reviews by providing constructive technical feedback.
- Identify risks and defects early in the design phase and propose solutions.
- Improve team processes, tools, and methodologies.
- Develop automation to aid in drone manufacturing and testing.
