This position involves designing and developing mainframe applications using COBOL, focusing on improving system reliability and supporting critical business functions. The role requires analyzing code for defects and providing business solutions through complex software applications. The candidate will participate in architecture design, mentor junior team members, and advise on technical strategies. A strong emphasis is placed on ensuring quality assurance and meeting project goals on time and within budget.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field and five years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer.
• Alternatively, a Master’s degree in a related field and three years of experience in a similar role.
• Demonstrated expertise in developing batch applications on mainframe systems using COBOL, JCL, and IBM DB2 or VSAM.
• Experience with developing DB2 databases and real-time connectivity to web-based online brokerage transaction processing systems.

• Participate in architecture design teams and define application-level architecture.
• Develop applications on complex projects and recommend development testing tools.
• Ensure QA readiness of software deliverables and develop comprehensive documentation.
• Establish full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
• Advise on risk assessment and management strategies for projects.
• Act as a primary liaison for business units to resolve project and technology issues.
• Mentor junior team members and perform complex technical analysis for multiple projects.
