Job description
As an Assistant Resident Engineer at Arcadis, you will support the Senior Resident Engineer in overseeing transit and rail projects, focusing on station, facility, and infrastructure work. You will ensure that construction activities comply with contract documents and quality standards while maintaining safety and schedule commitments. This role involves significant coordination with contractors and project stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and documentation. Your contributions will be vital in delivering sustainable solutions that enhance quality of life.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field is required.
- A Professional Engineer license is preferred, but EIT with a clear path toward PE licensure will also be considered.
- Minimum of 8 years of construction management, resident engineering, field engineering, or inspection-related experience is required.
- Experience with public transit agencies such as CTA or Metra is preferred.
- Familiarity with construction management and document control tools such as Primavera P6 and Bluebeam Revu is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Support the Senior Resident Engineer with day-to-day field administration and contractor coordination.
- Track submittals, schedules, insurance, permits, and other contract requirements for timely review.
- Coordinate and participate in meetings with contractors and project stakeholders.
- Prepare and distribute meeting minutes and related project correspondence.
- Verify that required material inspections and quality documentation are completed and properly filed.
- Monitor contractor progress against the approved construction schedule and identify potential delays.
- Assist with the review and documentation of potential changes and related cost impacts.
- Support the review of contractor pay applications by confirming quantities and field progress.
- Coordinate with inspection staff to gather necessary field reports and documentation for submission.
- Support final project closeout, including punch list tracking and as-built documentation.
