Job description
The Intern Software Engineer / Agent Engineer position at IBM's Electronic Design Automation (EDA) team is designed for students interested in software engineering, AI, and semiconductor design. The team focuses on developing advanced software and Agentic AI solutions to aid in the design and verification of next-generation processors. Interns will work alongside experienced engineers on real-world problems that integrate software, AI, and chip design. Requirements
- Currently pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Familiarity with object-oriented programming languages such as C++, Java, Rust, or similar.
- Exposure to Python or other scripting languages.
- Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and digital logic design.
- Coursework or exposure to AI or Agent Engineering.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in collaborative environments.
- Demonstrated curiosity and willingness to learn new technologies.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with experienced engineers on software, AI, and chip design problems.
- Gain exposure to Agentic AI and machine learning techniques applied to chip design workflows.
- Contribute to software tools that support logic design, functional verification, timing analysis, and physical design.
- Work on algorithms and software solutions that improve design quality and accelerate chip development.
- Partner with engineers across various IBM systems to tackle challenging real-world problems.
