Job description
The Structural Engineer - Transportation Structures role at Jacobs involves working on rail structural design projects, performing complex structural analysis and design, and conducting critical field inspections. Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
- Registered EIT or PE
- Substantial years of relevant post-education experience in engineering, structural/civil and infrastructure design
- Knowledge of construction drawing standards
- Competent in using building codes and understanding of ACI and AISC provisions
- Proficient in using STAAD, SAP, and RAM Steel to analyze building structures
- Competent in using AutoCAD and MicroStation, with the ability to utilize REVIT or Bentley in BIM
- Skilled in using MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience within the transportation industry and understanding of AREMA is preferred
- Ability to work at field sites and some nights/weekends
Responsibilities
- Assist on rail structural design projects and perform complex structural analysis and design
- Provide critical inspections in the field
- Assist with planning, analysis, design, plan preparation, specification development, quantity and cost estimating, and report writing
- Coordinate project work with geotechnical, highway, and hydraulic engineers
- Ensure project goals and objectives are accomplished within prescribed time frames and funding parameters
- Be involved in projects with the Transportation Structures and Design-Build Oversight Teams
