Job description
The Firmware Developer Intern role at IBM focuses on developing firmware for various components within IBM mainframes, including hardware management consoles and cryptographic processors. Interns will work within agile teams, applying methodologies throughout the development cycle. The position offers exposure to embedded programming, communication protocols, and user-interface design. Ideal candidates will have a passion for technology and a foundational understanding of software design.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science is preferred.
- Fundamental education in software design and/or testing is necessary.
- Knowledge of programming languages such as C, C++, Java, and Assembly is required.
- Scripting knowledge in Python, JavaScript, Perl, or Bash is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Develop firmware for hardware management consoles and cryptographic processors.
- Support the development of I/O adapters and Secure Service Containers.
- Implement complex z/Architecture instructions and recovery functions.
- Apply agile methodologies throughout the entire development cycle.
- Conduct software performance analysis, debugging, and testing.
