The Software Development Engineer II role on the ECS Developer Platforms team focuses on designing, building, and operating customer-facing APIs and Infrastructure-as-Code surfaces for Amazon ECS. This newly formed team is responsible for ensuring that every new ECS capability is launched with complete developer surface coverage. Engineers will work with Java, TypeScript, and Go, collaborating with various backend teams and owning internal platform tooling. The role offers significant influence over technical foundations and architectural decisions that impact ECS customers.

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language
• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience

• Design and build customer-facing API endpoints and IaC resource providers for ECS capabilities.
• Collaborate with ECS backend pillar teams and AWS-wide IaC teams to co-design API contracts and resource models.
• Own internal platform tooling that the ECS engineering organization depends on for shipping quickly and reliably.
• Participate in code reviews, mentor fellow engineers, and author API and IaC design documents.
• Investigate operational issues through oncall rotations and root cause analysis to improve reliability and performance.
