The AWS Security Communications team is seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer to design, develop, and operate software systems that enhance security communications workflows and integrations. This role focuses on building scalable platforms for effective communication during security events and routine operations. The team collaborates closely with security engineers, program managers, and communications professionals to deliver high-quality software solutions. Candidates should be comfortable working in a cross-functional environment and addressing both technical and non-technical challenges.

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience for new and existing systems
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
• 1+ years of experience designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications using C#, C++, Java, or Perl
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
• 3+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle, including coding standards and operations
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
• Experience contributing to the architecture and design of new and current systems
• Knowledge of Machine Learning and LLM fundamentals
• Familiarity with security domains including incident response and vulnerability management

• Design and deliver software features and improvements for the SecComms platform.
• Work backwards from customer and stakeholder needs to define requirements.
• Produce high-quality, well-tested, documented code that adheres to Amazon's standards.
• Demonstrate operational excellence by owning and operating production services.
• Identify and resolve the root causes of operational issues.
• Collaborate with security engineers and program managers to understand business value.
• Communicate clearly about work in progress and technical decisions.
• Mentor engineers on the team and provide constructive feedback.
• Document the team's software and keep documentation current.
• Evaluate and apply industry innovations to improve team outcomes.
