Job description
The Sr. Industrial Engineer, Distribution Center Process Development at Rivian is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing standardized warehouse processes. This role is crucial for the strategic and operational efficiency of distribution operations and requires collaboration with IT and other teams. The ideal candidate will have a proactive approach to enhancing warehouse processes and ensuring scalability across global distribution centers. This position involves working on-site at the warehouse at least three days a week.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent work experience, Master’s preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in project/program management, continuous improvement leadership, or process improvement.
- Previous experience in process management and standardization focused on distribution or warehousing.
- Expertise in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), preferably SAP EWM.
- Understanding of the interface between WMS and MRP systems.
- Knowledge of lean methodologies and visual management with an emphasis on continuous improvement.
- Familiarity with the global automotive industry supply chain and logistics.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
- Excellent project management skills and ability to work within guidelines.
- High proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office applications.
Responsibilities
- Map, design, and standardize warehouse processes including slotting, put-away, pick/pack, kitting, and shipping.
- Work on-site with warehouse teams to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with IT to ensure clear translation of business requirements for new system capabilities in SAP EWM.
- Set a roadmap for warehouse capabilities and processes to enable scalability of Rivian’s service distribution network.
- Investigate and evaluate business cases for new technologies to improve productivity.
- Develop processes to track KPIs at Distribution Centers to drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure programs and processes are developed and communicated in compliance with Rivian’s objectives.
- Create and maintain models for warehouse capacity planning to ensure proper risk management.
- Serve as a liaison between business/operations teams and IT development teams.
- Drive solutions for complex warehouse and distribution opportunities across multiple geographic sites.
