Job description

The Senior CPU Architecture and Performance Architect role at Google focuses on delivering solutions to complex problems related to CPU performance and microarchitecture design. The team combines AI, software, and hardware to create innovative technologies that enhance computing experiences. This position requires deep expertise in microprocessor architecture and the ability to influence stakeholders effectively. The architect will work on defining CPU architecture specifications and collaborating with various teams to ensure high-performance implementations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in microprocessor architecture, microarchitecture, performance, and design.
  • Experience with CPU architecture, including CPU blocks and performance modeling.
  • Familiarity with processor instruction set architecture such as ARM, RISC-V, or x86.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver solutions to complex problems related to CPU performance and microarchitecture design.
  • Plan, drive, and evaluate ARM's architecture features from both architecture and performance perspectives.
  • Define and write CPU subsystem architecture specifications.
  • Lead collaboration with RTL, design verification, and physical design teams for efficient CPU implementation.
  • Drive performance correlation between the performance model and RTL implementation, and perform pre-silicon and post-silicon performance bug triage.
