Job description
The Mechanical Design Engineer will join KLA's Central Engineering team, focusing on the design of mechanical parts and subsystems for next-generation wafer inspection tools. This role requires collaboration with various engineering groups to ensure seamless integration and adherence to design best practices. The engineer will engage in the complete design process, from concept to testing, while maintaining a strong emphasis on manufacturability and cost-effectiveness. The position offers an exciting opportunity to tackle complex engineering challenges in a dynamic environment.
Requirements
- Doctorate (Academic) Degree with 0 years of related work experience, Master's Level Degree with 3 years of related work experience, or Bachelor's Level Degree with 5 years of related work experience.
- Solid understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals such as mechanics, thermodynamics, and structural analysis.
- Experience in detail drawing creation and application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (ASME Y14.5) and welding (AWS A2.4) symbols.
- Familiarity with engineering materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum alloys, and plastics.
- Experience in 3D solid/CAD modeling, preferably using Creo/Parametric.
- Experience in structural finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis software.
Responsibilities
- Lead the complete design process, including requirements, concept, design, testing, BOM structure, and scheduling.
- Work cross-functionally to implement design best practices into product design that meets specifications and standards.
- Conduct various analyses, including thermal, vibration, and FEA modeling, and create detailed drawings.
- Collaborate with engineering groups to ensure seamless integration and subsystem testing.
- Develop supporting documentation, such as assembly and test procedures.
