Job description
The Product Lifecycle Engineer role at AWS focuses on providing electrical infrastructure support to AWS data centers. The engineer will collaborate with product development teams to ensure quality and reliability of electrical products throughout their operational life. This position requires hands-on experience in design, manufacturing, and installation of electrical products. The team is dedicated to continuous improvement and innovation in electrical distribution systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years developing electrical and/or electronics products and launching them into production
- 5+ years with systems or components including wiring, connectors, relays, circuit breakers, switchgear and/or transformers
- Ability to design for manufacturability, create assembly specifications and work with contract manufacturers
- Knowledge and experience to interpret electric code NEC, NFPA, UL891, UL508, ANSI C37 or IEC 62271 or IEC61439
- Experience with electronics including instrumentation control schematics and integration of electronics components
- Knowledge of typical data center designs/architectures and following industry design trends
Responsibilities
- Review, update, and approve equipment submittals
- Work with global electrical equipment suppliers and manufacturers
- Build trust and relationships with different stakeholders including reliability, operations, design, and compliance
- Work on concurrent projects in multiple geographic zones
- Understand and explain complex systems in clear and concise language
- Provide support to Field Engineering for root cause analysis and collaborate with the quality team for component-level investigations
- Listen to the voice of the customer to identify improvements for product reliability or availability
- Work with global suppliers and manufacturers to design product improvements and oversee root cause analysis
- Contribute to the global body of knowledge and drive a cycle of continuous improvement at a global scale
