This role is for a Software Engineer focused on the software-defined networking (SDN) dataplane stack that powers EC2 networking. The team is responsible for delivering high-performance networking solutions across various applications, including Machine Learning and Cloud Gaming. The engineer will work on performance optimizations for Machine Learning workloads on the EC2 Nitro System. • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
• 4+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 4+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
• 3+ years of experience contributing to new and current systems architecture and design
• 4+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle
• Experience in embedded development in C/C++
• Knowledge of system performance, memory management, and parallel computing principles
• Knowledge of machine learning model architecture and inference
• Experience developing low-level systems software, networking dataplane, or performance-critical services

• Design, scope, implement, and integrate testing of performance optimizations and dataplane features for the EC2 Nitro System.
• Set high standards for development processes, tools, and automation to enhance team productivity and quality.
• Influence best engineering practices on design and coding.
• Identify business problems and advocate for technical solutions that influence the technical roadmap for the team.
• Mentor junior engineers in scoping, design, and developing scalable and maintainable code.
• Collaborate with Senior/Principal Engineers, Product Managers, and cross-functional teams to define requirements and implement robust solutions.
