The Senior Staff Product Data Scientist for Merchant Shopping at Google will lead the technical evolution of data systems across Google's merchant and communication products. This role involves operating between data science and software engineering to build self-healing data pipelines and AI-readable semantic layers. The position focuses on enhancing consumer messaging funnels and optimizing merchant Return on Investment (ROI) through actionable insights. The individual will also mentor team members and ensure the development of autonomous agents for data analysis.

• Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
• 13 years of work experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, performing statistical analysis, and coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL) or 10 years with a Master's degree.
• Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics, or a related quantitative field is preferred.
• 15 years of work experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, performing statistical analysis, and coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL) is preferred.

• Develop AI agents capable of executing end-to-end data analysis, from exploring interaction data to generating product recommendations.
• Build and deploy production-code data pipelines for Business Messaging and Business Agents.
• Structure data warehouses to ensure they are universally readable by internal AI systems and product surfaces.
• Architect the statistical frameworks and infrastructure for A/B testing and build automated systems to interpret experimental results.
• Serve as a technical benchmark for the data organization by writing clean, maintainable code and mentoring senior team members.
