The role is focused on building and operating caching and locking services within the Storage organization at DoorDash. The Distributed Caching team is responsible for various caching offerings, including ElastiCache and Boulder, which support high-QPS feature serving. The position involves driving the evolution of these systems to enhance performance and cost efficiency while ensuring reliability at scale. The successful candidate will work closely with other engineering teams to provide a seamless caching solution.

• 6+ years of full-time experience designing, building, and operating distributed, stateful systems in production.
• At least 2 years of experience involving caching or key-value storage at meaningful scale.
• Proficiency in Go, or Java/Kotlin with deep expertise in concurrency and distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with distributed caching technologies such as Redis/Valkey or Memcached.
• Understanding of distributed systems fundamentals including consistency models and replication.

• Own high-leverage caching and locking services with direct customer impact.
• Build and scale Boulder, the KVRocks backed key-value store, focusing on compaction and sharding.
• Re-platform the Distributed Lock Service onto a strongly consistent backend.
• Contribute to the standardized smart caching client with built-in failover and observability.
• Diagnose and resolve production issues related to cache invalidation and replication.
