The Vehicle Configuration Design Engineer will join the Prime Air Drone Vehicle Design and Test team within Flight Sciences to design and analyze innovative drone vehicles. This role involves creating conceptual vehicle configurations that integrate subsystems and meet performance requirements. The engineer will utilize multi-disciplinary optimization tools to size and mature vehicle designs while supporting prototyping and testing efforts. Collaboration with various subsystem teams is essential to ensure integrated designs that meet operational and manufacturing standards.

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience in air or space vehicle configuration design and integration.
• Proficient in CATIA/3DX.
• Proficient in surfacing/lofting.
• Specialization in one or more domains of aircraft design such as aerodynamics, performance, or stability & control.
• Wind tunnel testing experience.
• Experience with propeller/rotor design, analysis, and testing.
• Experience using multi-disciplinary analysis & optimization tools.

• Design conceptual level vehicle configurations and layouts that integrate all subsystems.
• Model internal subsystems and major structural elements of the vehicle.
• Utilize multi-disciplinary optimization tools to help size the vehicle and mature the design.
• Explore new and novel drone vehicle conceptual designs.
• Prototype vehicle designs and support wind tunnel and other testing.
• Collaborate with the Office of the Chief Program Engineer and vehicle subsystem teams.
