Job description

As an Entry-Level Roadway Engineer at Jacobs, you will be part of a collaborative team focused on delivering impactful roadway and highway projects for WisDOT and local agencies throughout Wisconsin. This role involves supporting the planning, design, and delivery of transportation infrastructure projects, contributing from concept development through final design. You will work alongside experienced engineers and gain exposure to client interactions while helping to deliver safe and innovative transportation solutions. The position is ideally located in Madison, with flexibility for other locations in Wisconsin.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, with experience in MicroStation being a plus
  • Knowledge of roadway geometrics, corridor modeling, intersection design, plan production, quantities, and PS&E development
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and delivery of roadway and highway improvement projects for WisDOT.
  • Prepare the development of plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E), design calculations, technical reports, quantities, and cost estimates.
  • Utilize Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD), MicroStation, and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D to develop roadway geometry, corridor models, alignments, profiles, and construction plans.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including traffic, drainage, structures, environmental, utilities, and construction professionals.
  • Perform and oversee quality reviews to ensure compliance with WisDOT standards and applicable federal guidelines.
  • Provide engineering support during construction, including design clarifications, field reviews, and resolution of project challenges.
