Job description

The Structural Engineering Intern will join the Federal Buildings team in Arlington, VA, focusing on designing various structural projects, including multi-building complexes and historic renovations. This internship offers the opportunity to work alongside professional engineers and designers, gaining hands-on experience in project coordination and structural analysis. Interns will be mentored by experienced professionals, enhancing their understanding of structural design principles and their application in real-world scenarios. The role emphasizes continuous learning and collaboration within a hybrid work environment.

Requirements

  • United States Citizenship is required, and candidates with CPT work authorization cannot be considered.
  • Currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program in Civil or Architectural Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office programs, particularly Excel.
  • Previous relevant internship experience is preferred.
  • Must live within a commutable distance from the Jacobs office, approximately 50 miles.

Responsibilities

  • Support teams on critical structural engineering projects.
  • Assist in the performance of structural analysis and design.
  • Perform increasingly complex calculations and analysis as the structural design develops.
  • Collaborate with Designers to communicate structural requirements effectively.
  • Engage with interdisciplinary counterparts and senior leadership across various business units.
