Job description
GEICO is seeking a Staff Data Scientist for Product Analytics to provide quantitative insights and strategic perspectives across the organization. This role involves collaborating with product, engineering, and design leaders to enhance decision-making through data analysis and experimentation. The ideal candidate will frame business questions, design studies, and translate findings into actionable recommendations. This position is pivotal in influencing product decisions and shaping the company's analytical approach.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in product analytics, decision science, data science, or a closely related quantitative role at a technology company.
- Strong background in designing well-powered A/B tests and diagnosing bias and variance issues.
- Solid applied statistics foundation with practical experience in selecting causal methods.
- Advanced SQL and working proficiency in Python or R for analysis and modeling.
- Demonstrated ability to define metric frameworks for a product area.
- Clear writing and direct storytelling with data.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in statistics, economics, computer science, mathematics, operations research, or a related quantitative field.
Responsibilities
- Embed with product, engineering, and design leaders as a decision partner.
- Define goal metrics, guardrails, and supporting metric trees for your product area.
- Design, power, and analyze A/B and quasi-experiments.
- Apply causal methods where randomization is not feasible.
- Build opportunity sizing, forecasting, and ROI models.
- Lead root-cause investigations into user behavior and funnel performance.
- Serve as a trusted analytics partner to PMs, designers, and engineers.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Mentor junior data scientists and analysts.
