Job description

The R&D Analyst position at GEICO focuses on creating and supporting various insurance products while driving analytical innovation. This role is essential for conducting research and performing complex data analysis to support business goals across multiple departments. The analyst will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to explore new modeling techniques and derive insights that advance innovation in the insurance industry. The position is based in Bethesda, MD, and is part of a team dedicated to enhancing GEICO's competitive edge through data-driven decision-making.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or higher in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Economics, Operation Research or related quantitative and analytics fields for R&D Analyst II.
  • PhD degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Economics, Operation Research or related quantitative and analytics fields for R&D Analyst III.
  • In lieu of a PhD, a Master’s degree in a related field and a minimum of 2 years of analytical experience is required.
  • Proficiency in R, SAS, and SQL.
  • Knowledge of cloud databases and insurance rating products.

Responsibilities

  • Create and support multiple types of insurance products.
  • Assist various business departments including Under Writing, Claims, Marketing, and Advertising.
  • Interact with commercial grade databases in cloud or local environments.
  • Generate large-scale data and translate it into business value.
  • Perform data exploration and R&D research independently and collaboratively.
