Job description
The Haptic Engineering team at Apple is focused on developing innovative haptic solutions that enhance user experience in products like the iPhone and Apple Watch. The role of Product Design / Mechanical Design Engineer involves designing, developing, and validating next-generation haptic actuators. Candidates will have the opportunity to work with cross-functional teams and vendors to bring their designs from concept to production.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or Materials Science with a concentration in magnetics, electromagnetics, transducers, or mechatronics.
- A minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience or 5 years with a Master's degree or a PhD.
- Experience with 3D CAD.
- Strong fundamentals in mechanics and magnetism.
- Working expertise of magnetic measurement and characterization.
- Proficient with mechanical or electromagnetic FEA tools.
- Applied knowledge of electrical circuits, material science, and basic chemistry.
- Team oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Project experience in consumer electronics products design.
- Expert knowledge of electro-mechanics and dynamics.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and validate next-generation haptic actuators.
- Take end-to-end responsibility for the mechanical design and integration of haptic actuators from concept to production.
- Own the magnetic design and actuator architecture as you grow in the role.
- Collaborate with a variety of cross-functional teams and vendors.
- Utilize problem-solving tools like the scientific method and root cause analysis.
- Conduct design and application of electromagnets and actuators.
- Engage in high volume mass production experience and design for manufacturability.
