The role is focused on building scalable, reliable, and user-friendly systems to support Apple's global cloud infrastructure. The team, Infrastructure Services, manages data center equipment and systems to deliver essential compute, storage, and networking services. Engineers will design, build, and operate distributed control planes and orchestration systems. The position requires solving complex distributed consensus problems and automating network fabrics at scale.

• Strong proficiency in Go, Java, or C++ along with experience in scripting languages such as Python or Bash.
• Strong foundation in Computer Science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, multithreading, and distributed system design.
• Solid understanding of Networking Fundamentals such as TCP/IP, L2/L3 routing and switching concepts, BGP, overlay networks, and network virtualization.
• Proficiency with Git, modern build systems, and configuration management infrastructure.
• Experience designing, developing, and operating scalable distributed systems, microservices, and high-throughput APIs like REST, gRPC, and Protobuf.
• Understanding of distributed system challenges including state consensus, eventual consistency, partition tolerance, caching, and database design.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize, troubleshoot, and resolve critical production issues in large-scale distributed environments.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills to articulate architectural decisions and balance trade-offs.
• Experience building SDN controllers, network operating systems, or orchestration platforms.
• Hands-on experience with distributed data stores such as etcd, Raft, ZooKeeper, Redis, or Cassandra.
• Experience with automated network provisioning, zero-touch provisioning, and large-scale fleet telemetry.
