The Senior Software Engineer, Device Architecture for Google Home will focus on developing foundational software architecture for smart home devices. This role is part of the System Architecture team, which manages the integration of silicon capabilities and embedded operating systems. • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience in embedded systems, OS internals, or system architecture.
• 5 years of experience in C/C++ programming.
• Experience with device drivers, board bring-up, and low-level system services.
• Experience driving technical requirements and prototyping with silicon and third-party software vendors.

• Lead architecture pathfinding and exploratory investigations for software implementations.
• Drive technical engagements and prototyping sprints with external SoC vendors.
• Profile, diagnose, and optimize system-level resource utilization.
• Optimize embedded pipelines for real-time audio/video processing and on-device ML execution.
• Formulate architectural blueprints and trade-off analyses to influence cross-functional teams.
