The Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) role at Databricks involves working closely with customers to develop and implement solutions for their data and AI challenges using the Databricks Platform. This hands-on, customer-facing position requires a blend of engineering expertise and business acumen to deliver impactful projects. FDEs are responsible for leading architecture and design decisions, ensuring that solutions are secure and scalable. The role emphasizes customer empathy and collaboration with various teams to drive successful outcomes.

• 6+ years of experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering
• Proficiency in coding with Python, Scala, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern frameworks
• Experience with two or more common Cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) with expertise in at least one
• Deep experience with distributed computing using Apache Spark™
• Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments
• Working knowledge of MLOps, ML/AI models, and AI APIs
• Experience in designing and deploying performant production end-to-end data architectures and applications
• Strong project delivery experience, managing scope, timelines, and measurable outcomes
• Excellent documentation and white-boarding skills
• Experience working with enterprise clients and managing conflicts across a broad stakeholder range
• Demonstrated curiosity, adaptability, and eagerness to explore new technologies
• Willingness to travel to customers 20% of the time
• Databricks Certification

• Lead impactful customer technical projects by delivering production-grade systems and designing reference architectures.
• Guide strategic customers in implementing transformational big data projects, including end-to-end design and deployment.
• Advise customers on architecture and design to ensure successful adoption of Databricks.
• Lead architecture and design decisions, ensuring solutions align with customer needs and Databricks best practices.
• Collaborate with the Databricks technical team and customer teams to meet technical engagement needs.
• Work with Engineering and Customer Support to provide feedback and resolve engagement-specific issues.
• Engage with customer stakeholders to understand challenges and deliver impactful solutions.
• Contribute to reusable assets, frameworks, and best practices to scale impact across accounts.
